Gemlan Tech Inc., the Canadian manufacturer of advanced solar power cells has today announced an agreement with 2 European cities to trial 17 of their patented solar powered E bike and E scooter charging shelters for use in city centre locations.

The company explained that the 2 cities identified are Rotterdam who will have 9 locations and Cologne who will have 8 locations although the exact site locations have yet to be determined by the relevant city councils.

The intention is for the first shelters to be in place within the next 4 weeks and the total time to complete installation of all 17 is expected to be 5 weeks. The company have the option to trial these shelters at several other European locations with Barcelona and Madrid already identifying suitable locations in their city infrastructures.

Each shelter will have the ability to charge up to 10 bikes or scooters at a time and the 18 Gemlan Tech solar panels used that each shelter will have fitted will have the capacity to charge over 80 bicycles or scooters per day.

Oliver Elwin, Chief Engineer at Gemlan Tech Inc. explained, "Our commitment to a helping create a cleaner air environment, particularly in city centre locations, was one of the main factors behind the reason for us to manufacture these shelters. With cycling growing in popularity as a preferred mode of transport and as E bikes and E scooters start to gain a greater market share we saw an opportunity to ensure their charge demands were met."

"Although these shelters are rather a standard installation in terms of their technical aspects they will serve as a great facility to all of the many E cyclists who will rely on these charge facilities on a daily basis."

Gemlan Tech Inc. anticipate to have usage figures by the end of the 3rd quarter.
